Hydraulic is the way to go, you can hook the lines to the aux. lines on the loader and use the proportional system to feather it while you back out. My Cat dealer did a set up on the rear of a skid steer with the winch lines attached to the loader arms, and 12" flexi-lines with couplers on the ends that could be stowed away when not in use. I'm wondering if anyone here has ever put together a winch attachment for a skid steer. I've got a Bobcat 763 with aux hydraulics, rated at 15 gpm and 3000 psi system relief at the quick couplers. We run them on the rear of our cat 287 and tak tl150 on a custom bumper, the cat is intergrated in the hydraulics and you do not have to hook up hoses manually when the winch is used. I don't have a winch on my Bobcat, but I put a 12K MileMarker hydraulic winch on my JD 450b dozer last year. The hydraulic winch will hold up way better than electric, and is faster. Put a set of tracks on that 743 and you may not need a winch.

I put the winch back on the forks and then backed up to the trailer with the skid steer and hauled them to the road. I could use the winch in the front to help me get up and steep hills or through any deep mud. I ended up taking the hoses off of the two hydraulic motors that run the drive chains and it turned freely so we could winch it up onto the trailer. Has anyone ever bolted a winch on a bobcat? I have been working in an area that has very loose soil and sometimes cannot even push myself out with the bucket. I end up getting the tractor to pull myself out.
