I pull a 16" trailer with my 1997 Ford F150. I've hauled my MF135 with a 84" mower, my 743B Bobcat skid steer, and up to 5 round bales without any problems. I would not recommend pulling a skid steer with a half ton. I've done it once and braking isn't really a thing. You can do it short distances as long as you go slow and leave a lot of room in front of you for other vehicles. Even with bigger trucks, putting it on the trailer right is key. I used my 1/2 ton Chev to pull a mini excavator & T250 Bobcat around this last week on Dad's 14K skid steer trailer. I knew I was beyond legal limits for that truck, but I couldn't use Dad's P/U to pull the trailer so I made do with what I have.
