They were one of the first makers (in the USA) of the track skid steer. That probably helped to put them under. When I was selling and demoing the Hydra-Mac,(late 80's) I had no concerns selling against any of the competition unless a Case 1845C showed up. Then I knew I had to sharpen my pencil or put the ramps back down.. True Cummins Power. A tracked machine with Mclaren Next Gen tracks will do just as good as any MTL or rubber wheeled skid steer, my vote would be a used 279C. The Cats also scored higher for better fuel economy from a recent test done last year in a European test against Bobcat, Case, New Holland, ASV and Caterpillar. Posted via Mobile Device

My buddy tried about 4 different track brands on his Bobcat and all he needed to know was his pitch length for the store to find the right track for him. I'm kinda surprised you guys can get 0/day w/ a skid steer. A full size 4 wheel drive front end loader w/ hoe goes for 0/day w/operator. In my case the smaller frames do great, had a big skid starting out and the smaller track loaders work out a lot better, plus if i need something bigger I grab the wheel loader. hope that helps

The wheeled machines suck for landscaping as far as my experience with them. They are construction machines. Also, alot of people say, "biggest you can afford" but what is a real bummer is when the equipment is too big and bulky for the job. It makes for 10 times as much hand work. The Taki, mustang and Gehl are the best CTL's. HI I am looking at buying a whole package deal from a local landscaper and he has a old john deere 90 skid steer. I know that it is a 23 hp gas motor and I have checked all the specs on it but I need to see what you guys would think it is worth. Please help.
