I have 2000 5635 gehl skid steer I looked in my book the hydraulic oil calls for a certain kind it has to have anti rust anti foam and anti oxidation additives and it has to conform to ISO VG46 . By what my book says I would not just dump in any kind of hydraulic oil. I would search the internet to find the proper hydraulic oil.

The service manual I have as well as the Owners manual I downloaded call for 10w30 diesel engine oil for the hydraulic system (10 gal). This sounds strange to me. Has anyone run. A user asks for help with a Gehl 4835 skid steer that has a hydraulic oil temp warning light on all the time. Other users suggest checking the sensor, the wiring, and the oil temperature with an IR thermometer. I have a gehl stid steer that the hydraulics keeps over heating with minimal work time. i've changed the filter and hyd. oil as suggested by a friend to do first but the problem persists. Any suggestions on what might be the problem or what to check first? Would appreciate any help of suggestions.
Obviously your park brake seal is bad and is leaking oil into your axle housing. I don't have a good source of parts, but if you Google "gehl dl-6h axle seal" and you will see several hits. ISZ Skid steers are normally a pain to work on, especially the hydraulics , they are in the worst area to get to. The price per hour and kit are close - shop work here is around $ 120 per. hr. The majority of all leaks on these are o-rings , sometimes you can get by with just tightening if it didnt come too loose and cut the o-ring.
I just picked up an older GEHL 4500 skid steer at an auction. Everything seems to work fine. There are no hydraulic leaks but the bucket will not stay tilted up. With a load in it the bucket slowly tilts down. Now I am somewhat familiar .
