Hey guys, we just got a new Bobcat S175 with 7ft snow blade to plow our driveway in the winter, and being new to both plowing and operating a skidsteer, I was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks.
Just picked up a Ramrod 900 mini skid to help with my summer decks and yards. Thought I would put it to work this winter with some plowing. What do I need to know about using a skid steer on concrete (sidewalks and driveways) Only have a bucket right now but considering a blade if I can find a used one.
I was thinking of something like a Bobcat 873. I would use it on snow to start, but could be used on yard renovations, mulch, top soil, gravel, or anything that comes along that could put it to work. 0i am looking probably for an older machine that I could do some work to, paint, repair etc.
I disagree with your reasoning. Surface area to ground contact equals less PSI on th ground. My track machine weighs over 10,000 lbs. I can drive the track over my foot and not hurt my foot. Plowing traction is all about lots of PSI ground pressure. So, the thinner the tire (or Track) the better the traction in snow.

After talking to a salesman that sells a lot of skid steer tires to snow contractors he sold me on the Solideal Lifemaster SKZ. I'm real happy with them and paid about 0 per tire. They work out good for me in the summer too.
Most driveways locally are flat or have a slight incline. The previous owner hired a professional plow company but ended up doing it himself after the plow company refused to plow it anymore. The previous owner used a truck and either a skid steer or tractor. All the equipment was sold in an estate sale. I will look at the skid mounted sanders.
